ART CAMP 2018 KANSAS CITY JULY 9-13
Monday:
We will be focusing on the elements and principles of art and learning techniques in pencil, Copec markers, and pastels. We will create 3 finished works of art. Class will be from 9:00 to 3:00.
Evenings we will have opportunities to see things in Kansas City related to art and architecture.
Tuesday: Tuesday we will have a day of painting. We will do 2 canvas paintings and one original large painting. We will also have a guest artist to talk about their work.
Wednesday: We will do sculpting today. We will do wire sculpture. We will also do paper mache.
We will leave for the Nelson Art Museum at 1:00 and eat at One of Kansas City’s most unique eating experiences, the Rozzelle Court Restaurant. It is designed in the style of early 15th century architecture with columned arches and long cloistered walkways in two stories, patrons can enjoy an elegant meal surrounded by beautiful works of art. Rozzelle Court serves a buffet-style menu of main dishes, salads, soups, breads and desserts. We will look through the Nelson with sketchbooks in hand.
Thursday: We will go to City Union Mission and create murals in a children’s area. This is the mission part of the camp. We will have been talking about coming up with original works of art, and each student will have an opportunity to contribute to a beautiful permanent mural that will be an encouragement to the children at the mission.
Friday: Friday morning we will finish the murals at City Union Mission and spend the afternoon finishing our work and creating an art show. We will also do some computer art.
ART CAMP AT MONTAUK 2018 July 23-27
( I am just scheduling the master artists that will give presentations and teach, including Michael Helm, master artist and a Marvel Comic artist) We will have guest artists for three days. We will also visit a well known sculptor who does fountains and metal art. Every day we will also look at techniques of master artists.
Monday: We will do art using charcoals, pencils and pastels. We will walk down to the Montauk State Park and do a picture of the river. Students will complete three works of art. Guest artist will present.
Tuesday: We will get up early and do photography in the park. We will focus on painting today. We will do a large canvas painting and watercolor. We will have a guest artist present techniques.
Wednesday: We will focus on sculpting. We will do a wire sculpture and paper mache. We will come up with designs for a 4’ by 8’ mural for the center in Salem MO “The Shepherd’s Nook” that provides food and clothing to the hungry. We will work on some graphic art for them as well. This is the mission part of the camp.
Thursday: We will use Copec markers and mixed media to focus on people and animals. We will have a well known animal artist do a presentation. Close to here is a large animal rescue that we will visit and do photography at. We also will have a guest animal.
Friday: We will visit the famous Bo’s Hollow that is very close to here. http://www.bohollow.com/
We will focus on nostalgia art and do a genre picture of this time period.
