Students will be surpervised at all times.  Depending on numbers registered, I’ll be bringing my advanced students for helpers.   Parents are always welcome.  Power point presentations are given and lots of really fun art techniques and projects are taught.  Students are kept very busy, but older students can have extra time for their work if needed.  Please contact me with any questions.

Basic Art and Reading ages 4-8 and Special Needs   Wednesday at 8:00 and 9:00  AM (central time)  $100 dollars for the semester or $20.00 per month. 

In this class every week students do an art lesson that teaches Art Appreciation, Basic Drawing and defining fine motor skills, beginning reading sounds and an art lesson that teaches children how to draw a specific animal and put the animal in its habitat.  An example would be looking at a master work of art by Bierdstadt, learning about the letter “B” and then drawing a bear in its habitat. 

Basic Art and Communication Skills grades 4-8  Wednesdays at 7:00 AM and 1:30 (central time)  $100 dollars for the semester or $20.00 per month.

This class teaches the elements and principle of art in a very foundational way.  In every lesson we have art appreciation, teaching a certain technique, and explanations of one of the elements of art.  An example would be looking at a lion by Rubens, and then drawing a lion using “line” and then drawing a lion using lines, shape and texture.

We would then do an optional exercise in English, such as writing a descriptive paragraph about a lion.

Creative Writing and Journalism junior/senior high  Wednesdays at 11:00 $150.00 for the semester

The class is geared to students who are very interested in writing.  We will cover all different kinds of writing, including making a newsletter, and then put together a digital portfolio.  Students will enjoy all the different writing exercises.

AP Studio Art/His Lions   Wednesday/Mondays/ Fridays 2:30 $200 for the semester

This class is geared to career artists; students who are very serious about art.  The class familiarizes students with all the elements and principles of art while at the same time allowing them to develop their own style and learn how to market their work. We also have a section on writing murals.

Art lessons for all ages. Nationally known art teacher and writer Sharon has a B.S.S.E. in art education from John Brown University, studied art at Metropolitan in Denver, sculpting at Southern Illinois University, and wrote an art program for the Cherokee Indians rated outstanding by the Bureau of Indian Affairs. She teaches Advanced Placement art classes in Studio Art 2D for a group called His Lions. Sharon also works with special needs children using art to teach core basics.   Sign up for a 12 hour, three part class to help and encourage you in teaching art to your family or your art class. You receive and endorsement from Sharon Jeffus for teaching art and can use the Visual Manna name and method of vocabulary of the arts, techniques, and appreciation in every lesson.
