What is a good art teacher?

1. A good art teacher wants you to learn something new about art and have fun doing it. This includes the elements and principles of art, techniques (how tos), and art appreciation.

2. A good art teacher makes you feel comfortable and encouraged practicing self-expression.

3. A good art teacher wants you to explore your hidden talents while gaining a new appreciation of art and the role it plays in the world around you and how it relates to the core subjects.

4. A good art teacher strives to have students that produce work in each class that is unique. They want you to be able to think for yourself and make decisions and put a work of art together that belongs to you the student. A good art teacher does not want you to be afraid of failure, but have the tenacity of an inventor. It is ok to fail, the next attempt may be spectacular. In other academic core classes, there is usually only one right answer. But in art the ability to think for yourself can not only prepare you for success in your other classes, but in your future life.

We really like Mrs Jeffus’ art classes on the Internet because it allows us to learn from a qualified professional in the comfort of our own home. More than that, Mrs. Jeffus truly cares about the students and their personal development. She teaches the kids, not the curriculum. The encouragement and consideration she has shown to my kids has been very present–in my opinion, this trait is just as important when teaching young children, as it is to have a firm grasp on the subject matter. Thankfully, Mrs. Jeffus has both, and fortunately, this comes through well in her Internet classes.

ADVANCED ART CAMP July 16-20
Students get AP Course training in mural design and Studio Art and learn teaching art skills so they can go back to their communities and paint murals and teach art. Cost is $400 per student. Students stay all five days. They return home with power points and all materials needed to teach art. Cost is $700 to spend the night with room and board all week. Prepay and save $100 dollars per student.

ART CAMPS
Come to Kansas City Art Camp June 11 through 14 in Kansas City, MO. This includes a trip to the Nelson Art Gallery. This also includes training on doing murals. Class for younger students ages 7 to 12 and advanced students. Cost is $25.00 per day for day students. To come and spend the night is $100.00 PER STUDENT per day. Deposit is $50.00 to reserve space. Pay in Advance is $100.00 for day camp and $400.00 for day and night camp.
Come to an Art and Science Camp at Montauk State Park in Salem, MO. Students learn art and astronomy, a variety of animals in different media, and the flora and fauna around Montauk State Park. Perfect for a family vacation.

The art activities are from 9:00 to 3:00 with special guest artists. We also will have training in mural painting, along with sculpting, painting, drawing and graphic art. Cost is $30 per day day campers.
